Reminder: Keep working hard to find good matchups, add players on the rise and keep churning the roster, despite COVID issues. It is depressing to see key players miss games for COVID, but the longer you can sustain working to improve the team, the better!
Top Fantasy Basketball Point Guard Waiver Options
Rajon Rondo, Cleveland Cavaliers
A basketball genius, Rondo has found a way to defy Father Time and is still a serviceable real-life player for a good team in Cleveland that just lost Ricky Rubio. Rondo is a solid pickup for assists.
Gary Payton II, Golden State Warriors
Payton is a truly premium lockdown defender on multiple positions, GP2 has found a role as a non-shooter in an offense due to the attention Steph Curry demands. Payton is getting extra opportunities with Jordan Poole and Damion Lee in protocols but is worth an add for the meantime.
Top Fantasy Basketball Shooting Guard Waiver Options
Hamidou Diallo, Detroit Pistons
A must-add this week due to the increase in minutes, there is a case to be made that Diallo is the absolute #1 add this week due to his dynamic scoring ability.
Luke Kennard, Los Angeles Clippers
With Paul George dealing with a torn UCL tendon, Kennard and several other Clippers will have an opportunity to have a larger usage rate with PG’s shots needing to be distributed. Kennard is a slick shooter with good feel, and is a nice add even for 12-team leagues.
Top Fantasy Basketball Small Forward Waiver Options
Garrett Temple, New Orleans Pelicans
Essentially the definition of a replacement-level player over the duration of his career, Temple is getting plenty of run for the Pellies given their COVID-19 issues, and is worth a stream for his three-point shooting abilities!
Aaron Wiggins, Oklahoma City Thunder
The latest development guy in the OKC rebuild, Wiggins is the younger brother of Andrew Wiggins, and he has both a little bit of scoring punch and the opportunity to play for the Thunder. Monitor this guy, not a must-add.
Top Fantasy Basketball Power Forward Waiver Options
Otto Porter Jr., Golden State Warriors
A role player for a title contender, Porter Jr. plays a role in deeper leagues and should be scooped up in 14 teamers and deep 12 team leagues, as his minutes have ticked up a touch.
Serge Ibaka, Los Angeles Clippers
A former fantasy stalwart, Ibaka is more of a streamer/speculative pickup at this point, but he can block some shots and hit a three-pointer, and is playing more minutes of late.
Top Fantasy Basketball Center Waiver Options
Nicolas Claxton, Brooklyn Nets
Emerging as an important big-man for Brooklyn with his switchy defensive talent and springy ability as a lob-threat, Claxton should receive more opportunities moving forward, and is a highly recommended add this week!
Jalen Smith, Phoenix Suns
With JaVale McGee hitting COVID protocols, Smith is in line to make good on his promise as a lottery pick. His game isn’t exciting, but the minutes should be there next week as a desperation big man streamer.
