NFL Wild Card Saturday Jock MKT Best Buys
Jonathan Gregg has the top players to invest in for the first day of NFL action!
Welcome to Wild Card Weekend in the NFL and the Jock MKT! Throughout the playoffs, I will continue to pen two columns with my recommendations for the best values of the weekend. This Saturday’s Wild Card games feature the Las Vegas Raiders versus the Cincinnati Bengals and the New England Patriots heading to Orchard Park to battle the Buffalo Bills. Both of these games feature teams who have seen each other this season, and in the case of the Patriots/Bills game, these two teams are playing for the third time in 40 days! Therefore we definitely have some historical data from earlier this season to take into account when trying to find players with the strongest potential to return on our IPO investment. As always, please keep your eye on the injury reports prior to bidding. Here are my recommendations for Saturday:
RB Joe Mixon, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Las Vegas Raiders
Jock MKT Projection: 17.5
MAX IPO Bid: $11.00
Break-Even Rank: 6
RB Joe Mixon had a very strong regular season this year for the Cincinnati Bengals. Mixon finished fourth overall in total fantasy points for running backs on the year, including 16 touchdowns. I like him in this matchup for three big reasons: 1) When these two teams met in Week 11, Mixon exploded for 30-123 and two touchdowns (Bengals won 32-13). One could argue that Rich Bisaccia will have his team ready for Mix, but I’d argue then they would just get burned by Burrow and his star WRs all day long. 2) Even if they do prepare for the ground attack, the Raiders are still the sixth-worst defense in the league against opposing running backs. 3) Mixon was held out of Week 18, so he should be healthy and rested – oh and the Raiders played on Sunday night and now play on Saturday afternoon this week in the Eastern time zone. Advantage Mixon and the Bengals. QB Joe Burrow may be the star of the Cincinnati offense, but Joe Mixon ain’t just some Ordinary Joe. Invest with confidence.

RB Devin Singletary, Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots
Jock MKT Projection: 12.86
MAX IPO Bid: $7.00
Break-Even Rank: 11
Since Week 14, only one RB has scored more fantasy points than Devin Singletary of the Bills. Let that sink in for a moment. Ever since he wrestled the primary early-down duties away from Zack Moss, Singletary has been a monster on the ground in this pass-heavy offense. Check out these returns that Singletary has provided for his investors in the past five weeks on Jock MKT: 162%, 184%, 86%, 207% and 62% last weekend. Back in Week 13 his numbers were paltry against the stingy Pats defense, but in the Week 16 rematch Singletary gained 78 total yards on 17 touches (including five receptions) and scored a touchdown as well. With temps likely to be in single digits on Saturday night in Buffalo, I look for Devin Singletary to get even more touches in this contest.

WR Zay Jones, Las Vegas Raiders at Cincinnati Bengals
Jock MKT Projection: 11.11
MAX IPO Bid: $5.50
Break-Even Rank: 14
WR Zay Jones has really improved as a player throughout the year. Derek Carr clearly knows has found another valuable target in Jones and has shown confidence in him, especially over the last six weeks of the season. Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller should garner a lot of attention from the Bengals defense, which will open up opportunities for Zay Jones. Over the last five games of the regular season Jones averaged 8.4 targets per game, including a Week 17 performance in Indianapolis where he saw 10 targets and turned in an 8-120 performance. I smell some upside here, especially if Las Vegas is trailing in the fourth quarter.
