MLB DFS Cheat Sheet: DraftKings, FanDuel 6/23

Today we have an early six-game DraftKings and seven-game FanDuel main slate. The value is in the outfield, so we can spend up for pitching and big-time infield sluggers. Here are my plays.

MLB DFS Strategy 6/23 Core Pitchers Clayton Kershaw , LAD vs. CIN (DK: $10,200 | FD: $10,300)

Kershaw is making his third start since coming off the IL on June 11 and should be close to 90 pitches in this one. When on, Kershaw can dominate the slate and we can’t look past that.

Kyle Wright , ATL vs. SF (DK: $9,900 | FD: $10,500)

I'm backing Wright today as I feel he is the best option today regardless of price. He has reached 20 plus fantasy points in four of his past six games and has 88 strikeouts in 79 2/3 innings. He faces a good Giants team but they rely on the longball and Wright has only given up four home runs this season.

Robbie Ray , SEA vs. OAK (FD Only: $10,000)

I'm playing Ray in almost all FanDuel contests as he has the best matchup against the light-hitting Athletics. Expect seven strong innings and a bid at double-digit strikeouts.

Core Hitters OF Max Kepler , MIN vs. CLE (DK: $4,700 | FD: $2,500)

Solid match-up against SP Zach Plesac. Kepler can be very streaky and is coming off a home run night. I think he picks up where he left off yesterday. FanDuel players especially take notice! You won’t find a better value … except maybe Amed Rosario who is sitting at $2,700.

1B Paul Goldschmidt , STL vs. MIL (DK: $5,400 | FD: $4,100)

Goldy has been the best player on the slate for the past month. The Cardinals should put up a few runs today against SP Jason Alexander and I expect Goldy to be in the middle of it.

3B José Ramírez , CLE vs. MIN (DK: $6,000 | FD: $4,300)

Third base is short on value today and value can be found at other positions. I feel Ramírez has the most upside in his matchup against the Twins today and SP Devin Smeltzer who has given up seven home runs in his last three starts. Confident Ramírez has a multiple-hit day with a good chance of knocking one out of the park.

Value Plays 1B Alfonso Rivas , CHC vs. PIT (DK: $2,000 | FD: $2,100)

Rivas has been given extra playing time the past five days due to injury and has contributed in four of the five games he has played including two double-digit performances. I like the Cubs against SP José Quintana and at min price, Rivas does not have to do much to make value and I can get two top pitchers and Ramírez in my lineup with him.

1B/OF Alex Kirilloff, MIN vs. CLE (DK: $2,500 | FD: $2,400)

One of the Twins better prospects when healthy, Kirilloff has scored five or more fantasy points in his last four games. He will hit in the heart of the Twins line up and I expect them to score runs today against Plesac. I’m calling for him to put one in the cheap seats.

OF Oscar Gonzalez , CLE vs. MIN (DK: $3,400 | FD: $2,600)

As mentioned, the Guardians have a great matchup today against Twins SP Devin Smeltzer . Gonzalez has homered in two of his last three games and has been hitting fifth in the lineup which should lead to solid fantasy production.

OF Ian Happ , CHC vs. PIT (DK: $3,500 | FD: $3,200)

Happ is quietly putting together one solid season. He has hits in 10 of his last 11 games and has been a solid fantasy contributor. He faces SP José Quintana who has given up five home runs in his last two stars. Look for Happ to get multiple hits and break double digits.

SP Braxton Garrett , MIA vs. COL (DK: $5,400 | FD: $6,500)

We are digging deep but Garrett could be a star in GPP tournaments. He did have a great start two starts ago and can easily make value if he keeps his walks to a minimum. His price point allows you to stack up on an extra stud bat or two which could be the difference in a short slate.

Top Stack Cleveland Guardians vs. Minnesota Twins Last night I had the Guardians as my sneaky stack and they did not disappoint, scoring 11 runs. Today I come back with them as my top stack as they have been pounding Twins pitching and the matchup against Smeltzer should not be ignored. They will be heavily owned as they feature one of the best in the game and have a hugely underpriced outfield.
