Dr. Roto’s Daily Prescription 8/23: Preseason Injuries to Terry McLaurin, Jaxon Smith-Njigba

Dr. Roto gives his fantasy fantasy prescription for the impact of recent injuries to Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Terry McLaurin.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Seahawks rookie WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba suffered a “slight fracture” to his wrist in the team’s last preseason game. He is expected to get it examined by a specialist in the coming days, but the word is that it’s possible he will miss about six weeks of action. With the season being two weeks away, that would put him at a Week 4 return. How does this affect his fantasy value? I think that his ADP will probably drop a full round. Currently, he is going in early Round 7, but I think this news moves him down to late Round 8. This might create a nice “buying the dip” opportunity, as he could make a tremendous mid and late-season impact when he returns.

Commanders WR Terry McLaurin injured his foot in what seemed like a turf toe injury this past Monday. The team seems to think that he is day-to-day with the injury, and they are hoping that a Week 1 return is possible. I see this as a three-week injury, which would put his return to effectiveness in Week 2. This should not drop his ADP drastically, so I still see him as a solid Round 7 selection.
