Fantasy Baseball Two-Star Pitchers: Week 15

The All-Star game is behind us and we are back to a full week’s worth of games. However, this week there is only one option to consider who may be available to you in your league. There are only 10 games on Monday with 20 pitchers scheduled to go. Most teams haven’t even named a starter for Monday yet. And the majority of starters are owned in over 80% of their leagues.

There is one pitcher to target…

LHP Cole Irvin, Baltimore Orioles

To begin with, the Orioles are smack dab in the middle of a playoff and division race; hot on the heels of the Tampa Bay Rays. They are only 1.5 games behind the Rays and are truly one of the best teams in the game this season.

Irvin has been uninspiring this season but has shown signs of life recently. For the season he is only 1-3 in eight starts. His ERA is 5.50 and his WHIP is an elevated 1.49. But in his last three starts, he has a very solid 1.88 ERA. He doesn’t have a win in those games but he also hasn’t gotten a loss. He is a back-end starter and that is all you can expect from him; a guy who can get you thru five innings and into the sixth inning. He has a tough matchup on Monday against the Dodgers, but the Orioles have been one of the better offenses in the game, and they should be able to put up a few runs for Irvin. If Irvin pitches the way he has over his last three starts, he could give you a win along with decent ratios.
