Now that I’ve finished re-ranking the 2023 rookie classes, I’m going to be taking a look at players to trade for and stash in Dynasty leagues at each position. These are players you want to have on your roster for the rest of this year and definitely for the beginning of next season; while they are not making a major impact now, they will be next season. I am not including the players who are already making an impact for their team through the first twelve weeks of the season like Zay Flowers, Michael Wilson, Puka Nacua. These are the deeper players that were drafted in the late rounds of rookie drafts or maybe even picked up off the waiver wire this year in Dynasty leagues that I am hoping will make a major impact for the rest of this season or next season. I have a process for all my Dynasty leagues where, if I am out of playoff contention when we turn the calendar to November, I will start to trade or cut older players and take fliers on younger players at all the skill positions. Here are the top four deeper wide receivers that I am looking to add in my Dynasty leagues so I have them on my roster to start the 2024 season.
Jayden Reed, Green Bay Packers
I know Jayden Reed is probably borderline too productive for the criteria I have set for this article, but he is a player not many knew about until a few weeks ago, and he is a player I drafted this summer late in rookie drafts that I absolutely love. The Green Bay Packers’ front office found a playmaker in the second round of the draft this year. He is a smooth route runner with good hands and deceptive speed. He is going to be, at the very least, a solid wide receiver two in the NFL for many years if he continues to get better. As I said, he is almost too good already for this article, currently ranking as the WR33 in PPR scoring through the first twelve weeks of the season. If he keeps playing like he is now and Jordan Love progresses more this season, he could finish the season as the WR25 or better this year. In 2024, he could push Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs to be the wide receiver one in Green Bay.
Jonathan Mingo, Carolina Panthers
Jonathan Mingo is a second-round pick that is taking a little time to develop right now with the Carolina Panthers. He currently ranks as just the WR80 in PPR scoring on the season, but I believe he will finish the season as WR70 or better. I am hoping that the recent coaching change will allow him to get more opportunities to showcase his abilities for the rest of the season. He is a big, strong, dynamic playmaker at the wide receiver position, and he uses his size well to make contested catches and is still smooth with his route-running ability. I probably have him higher than most in my rankings because, coming into the draft, he reminded me of Anquan Boldin. Looking ahead to 2024, if Mingo continues his development, he could be the wide receiver two for the Panthers starting next season, and I would want to have some shares of him because he has the potential to be a fantasy breakout player every week.
Marvin Mims, Denver Broncos
I was surprised when the Broncos took Marvin Mims in the second round of the 2023 draft given the fact that they had Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, and Tim Patrick already set as the top three players at wide receiver for 2023. So that made me think that Head Coach Sean Payton must see something he really likes in Mims and that one of the veteran receivers may not be back in Denver in 2024. Mims has a different skill set than the other Bronco wide receivers, as he is a smaller and faster receiver who can beat the defense on deeper pass plays with his speed and acceleration. I believe he has the skill set to be a top 40 wide receiver in the NFL; unfortunately, he just has not received many opportunities this year with Sutton and Jeudy ahead of him on the depth chart despite a preseason injury to Patrick. He is currently ranked as just the WR89 in PPR scoring. However, I believe he will be one of the starting wide receivers for the Broncos in 2024. I would try to trade for him in Dynasty Leagues because you can get him relatively cheap, and he has the possibility of being a starting wide receiver in Denver next year.
Jalin Hyatt, New York Giants
The New York Giants found a playmaker in Jalin Hyatt in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Hyatt is another fast and elusive wide receiver from this draft class. He was drafted into a great situation with the Giants needing help at wide receiver and Daniel Jones looking to take the next steps to being a franchise quarterback, but injuries to Jones and bad overall team performance have left Hyatt as a player we need stash for 2024 until we can find out more about him. He currently is ranked as the WR87 in PPR scoring this season, but he has the skill set to be a top 40 wide receiver or better with more opportunities and better quarterback play. In 2024, Hyatt will be an under-the-radar wide receiver who could develop into a starting wide receiver for the Giants. He has the skill set and ability I want to take a chance on late in my fantasy drafts, and he is a player I would like to trade for now in Dynasty leagues while you can get him at a discount.
