Have you wondered why a two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback was making less than others? Well, wonder no longer. Patrick Mahomes is now set to make the most money in NFL history over a four-season span. The Chiefs and Mahomes have restructured his agreement, giving him $210.6 million between 2023 and 2026. He is still under his previous 10-year contract with the Chiefs through the 2031 season; this is just a restructure through 2026.

Back in 2020, when Mahomes signed a 10-year extension worth $450 million, he was the highest-paid player in the NFL. Since then, several players have topped that contract, including Lamar Jackson, Jalen Hurts, Justin Herbert, and the recent bump for Joe Burrow. It’s difficult to determine what Patrick Mahomes is worth because he is such a special player, but he deserves to be compensated accordingly.

Mahomes is a two-time Super Bowl MVP and champ, two-time passing touchdown leader and five-time Pro Bowler. He has also been a top-10 fantasy QB for each of the past five years, including two QB1 and two QB4 overall finishes. Through two weeks of this season, he is the fantasy football QB5, despite missing Travis Kelce for one game and having a truly uninspiring group of weapons outside of him. What more will this superstar show us throughout his career? Well, we can certainly expect him to continue to be an elite fantasy quarterback for the rest of this year, and likely for the entire rest of his long Chiefs career.
